You have to care all beings created by God

The Edhi Foundation is a non-profit social welfare organization based in Pakistan. It was founded by Abdul Sattar Edhi in 1951.The Edhi Foundation provides 24-hour emergency assistance across the entirety of Pakistan and internationally. The Foundation provides, among many other services, shelter for the destitute, hospitals and medical care, drug rehabilitation services, and national and international relief efforts. The organization’s main focuses are emergency services, orphans, handicapped persons, women’s shelters, education, healthcare, international community centers, refugees, missing persons, blood donation & drug rehabilitation banks, air ambulance services and marine and coastal services.

In order to keep this chain strong and to support Pakistani’s poor people we all members as a perspectives of Amal academy committed to collect a fund for a foundation so that it keep helping number of people and a dream of Edhi Sahb always remain fulfill.

We have to collect funds as a whole batch but we first divide in to circle group so we can collect more donations by covering more areas in the form of group.

we start planning and making out plan how we will collect funds individually or spreading in the form of group. So we divided in to three sections. First 3 days we will collect funds individually by our friends, family and neighbors. Second in the form of group we will visit more people and shops. And the third one we all members and including more fellows from other circle group we will visit big organizations and companies to support us.

For individual collection we first arrange a zoom meeting in which we made a strategy how to and how much funds we have to collect. We also made a brochure. then From individual collection of funds, everyone contribute a lot but also every member face too many problems and some difficulties too. Every member when go to someone and ask about donation first some of them counter a question about why your doing this and how we can prove them that their money couldn’t be wasted and it could spent only in donations. Every member did his/her best to collect funds as much as they can. They went out door to door and ask everyone to help. No matter we all receive so many denies too but we have a clear vision in our mind that how Edhi sahb strive hard to collect, we have to collect like him also.

Individual Experience:

Seema Javed: When I got to know about this task, I was really motivated and I thought that it would be a very easy task. I took a step from myself and donated from my pocket money and I felt real satisfaction. I realized that we save the money which we spend on others. Then, I request my learning group member Aleena Razzaq to make a brochure which we can use to motivate others for donation.. Due to the third wave of Covid-19, we decided to collect funds individually and preferred the online source to complete this task.

Isha Noor: Amal provided me the great opportunity to take part in the noble task of fund raising for Edhi Foundation. Due to the current pandemic situation we decided to choose an online platform for fund collection. I used Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram for the campaign. I asked them to donate to the foundation themselves in case of any ambiguity. However, there were many people who donated without uttering a word. Overall it was a great experience for me and I learnt that failures are part of life and people can have different opinions, you just need to accept them as they are and keep going on our path.

Mafia Mukhtar: It was a new experience for most of us as we never really indulged in something like this before and on such a big level. Going out of your comfort zone and working for a social cause gives you the essence of life. The thought of helping others fills you with much joy and happiness. It fills your soul with harmony and makes you feel at ease when you lie on your bed after all the hard work you put into this great cause. You feel like you are doing something purposeful and, at the end of the day, you are investing in something way more fruitful and significant than just the daily grinding.

Ahmad Raza: It was a sort of like motivation and I approached many people. First I created awareness by briefing a short introduction about Edhi Sahb and then about me how I fulfilling his dreams. There were a lot of people who donated. They just hear the name of Edhi Sahb and they donated directly. Communication skills are being approved and I learnt how to approach different types of people at the same time. But I keep myself to the point that I have to be also out of my comfort zone like how Edhi Sahb done his whole life.

Maham Rafhan:I started fundraising from my home And my family appreciates me. I was very happy to see all this and I thought it would be very easy to collect funds. But nothing like that. I messaged for funds in different groups Circulate messages in my friend’s circle and close family. I just texted It felt like a rain of negativity. Learned from people that when you step out of your comfort zone, not all people are the same, you have to face many things. .Then I started talking to people face to face instead of online. Then this strategy worked for me it is a u-turn in my project. first, I got forty rupees from a person after this I collect 3000 rupees in thus all work I enjoyed a lot and also learned how to deal with people.

Aleena Razzaq: It was a heartwarming experience. I felt happy that I did something for someone as I think our main role in our life is to help others. So it was a very good experience to be a part of something that spreads positivity and helps everyone on a large scale.

M. Ehtsham: Collecting funds was an incredibly great experience especially collecting funds for Edhi foundation is of highly loveable for me.

Challenges we faced:

Seema Javed: I was pretty assured that people would donate funds immediately after listening to the name of Edhi Sahab, but when I shared the brochure and the content on my WhatsApp status and in different groups the response was very disappointing. No one even gave attention to it and no one was willing to donate. I felt very demotivated but then I thought about the struggle of Edhi Sahab and motivate myself reminding this quote, “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” — Robert F. Kennedy

Isha Noor: . I thought people would willingly donate for Edhi, but it was quite challenging as many of the people said that this was a scam and there is no surety that donations will reach to the foundation. I asked them to donate to the foundation themselves in case of any ambiguity

Mafia Mukhtar: Most of us faced problems while collecting donations because people were not trusting them. we were asked, “how would I know that you will be donating this Fund in Edhi? I respond to them that “Edhi foundation is facing severe loss in funding, so someone must take the step to help them. We are doing this for humanity not for our self. We can just assure you that your funding will not be misused because we also have to answer our GOD. Some of the people were saying that they will give donation to Edhi centers by themselves. Some people directly said that “we will not give you any funds so don’t waste your time.

Maham Rafhan: I just texted It felt like a rain of negativity. .I approached fifty people. And 45 percent of them don’t even donate funds. Some of them ignored the message. some of them got angry with me. And some started business deals and said I will give you funding when you will send the assignment. And people were saying, “you will use funds for your benefits.”

How we overcame the challenge: Similar strategy was applied by other fellows but result was not quite enough. So we arrange another zoom meeting and we move to the next step how to convince peoples more and how we can collect more funds. So we together make a plan that if we first distribute sweets to the people and then told them why we are distributing this they will got inspired and to appreciate our work and to make other life sweetened they will donate us for this. So we bought a box of candies and start distributing in our area, people get interested and ask about why we are distributing this.

Eat a sweet and donate for others to sweet their life

By this strategy we collected a lot of donations and also some sweet wishes by everyone how we get emotionally attach to themselves by spreading happiness. Through this example we narrate to people that how Edhi Sahab want to bring smile on every one’s face by providing them facilities and treatment.

For collecting the funds as much as we can we also take help from an society builders. They really appreciate us and agreed to donate funds for the foundation. They also motivate by appreciating how the young generation is helping this country to make Pakistan more peaceful and full of happiness.

We collected almost 12500 and more companies with cooperation. We deposited this money to the Edhi Foundation. This experience really taught so much the true aspects of life and how much it is to stand for the whole nation and realized how Edhi Sahab and his team was struggling to make this country more peaceful and of a healthy environment. Now this chain would never be stopped and we all would always collect funds for our nation.
