the most impactful moment during Amal Fellowship

‘There are certain decisions, you take in your life without the utmost consent of your inner self. Later you realize that those were the most valuable decisions”.

I have got a similar story during the last weeks of February, I was having a quite packed schedule with university classes in the morning and online course classes in the evening. At the same time, while roaming on some senior’s profile, I came across the platform of AMAL, and after visiting the website and learning about the mission and vision of this fellowship, I just instantly applied for it unseeingly. After applying, I was not that positive and passionate before the interview, as I was at that time more inclined towards my existing course.

But, yes! today I can say proudly that was worth a decision❤. For sure, I can regard these two and a half months with AMAL as one of the best times of my career. Initiating from a bit tweaky start and turning that into the most positive and exciting times, either its ever-lively fellows and facilitators (PM, PA) or interactive break-out room discussions during online sessions or the insightful online courses and project works or working in a circle or the one on one and mock interview, I really enjoyed and learned from each and every experience. One of the best things that have happened is the boost of my confidence level during interviews and public speaking. Amal fellowship is based on 4 principles that are

1. kam, kam, kam

2. khudi

3. Amal

4. Ek or Ek giarah

From activity center with no hopes till date with high hope and motivation, a lot has changed. Amal online courses, live interactive sessions, reflection questions and activities, break-out room, circle meetings, mock interviews, encouraging facilitators, and supportive fellows changed my entire self. I can see the positive change in myself within these three months. I can see how much I have improved from delaying things and not paying attention to detail to have a strong work commitment and to producing quality content; I came this far.

What has been the more impactful thing for me?

With time, I realized how essential the Amal values and principles are for shaping the skills that will not helpful for your professional life but in your personal life as well. Without exhibiting these principles, one can’t succeed in life. I loved how the facilitators maintain the decorum in virtual interactions in training you, ensure active listening, appreciating remarks “I Know You Can Do It”, clarifying the queries, fun activities, providing constructive feedback to ensure respectful behavior. Furthermore, transferring these qualities in the fellows so nicely that I can see their equal support, encouragement, sharing opportunities, felicitations, motiving comments, and positive feedback to uplift each other are truly inspiring. It changes my way of seeing things. Now, I look for opportunities from the adversities and remain consistent and positive for whatever is happening has a purpose for sure.

Extra mile skills:

The best thing for me in the whole fellowship is to leading the circle, owning the responsibility, and feeling the sense of authority and confrontation with the fellows and facilitators that eventually improves:

o Communication skill

o Problem-solving skill

o Critical thinking skill

o Ability to convince

o Leadership skill

o Writing skill

o Teamwork skills and a lot more.

Step by step, Day by Day

For me, “Being a leader, you act as a light that shows the path to others in a dark of times”. Within leadership, you have to make decisions, listening to other opinions with compassion, and making them share the responsibility equally. Being a leader, you have to act as a motivational speaker when members were feeling down, non-productive, and less compare to others, making them bring out the best in them, and, while doing this; you didn’t realize; you are changing and improving a lot. So yes, this was the most memorable and uplifting event for me.

I never forget the extra tips and techniques that I learned from this journey to go the extra mile, the Pomodoro technique, excel the business writing, fixing the surroundings, remembering the lollipop moments, gratuitous behavior, etc. Indeed, I will miss this fellowship.

Would I have done anything differently:

This fellowship has truly given me the best few moments in the last few months. I have become much better professionally and personally as compared to when I started. I met the best facilitators, fellows and got new friends.

Lastly, I would like to appreciate; Benji William, Kunal Chawla, and the entire Amal team for their invaluable efforts in providing us with this platform and bringing the potentials talents; among students. Assuredly, I will be here to give back to Amal whenever Amal needs me.
